02 The shop shelf behind the name
The domain wears its history openly. Twenty years ago these web addresses held a Cambridgeshire retail business supplying beer kits, wine kits, presses and chemicals to local brewers; archived snapshots show those departments trading until roughly a decade ago, after which the counters went quiet and the shelves emptied.
We revived the address as a magazine rather than a stockroom deliberately. Selling things competes with explaining them, and advising beginners works better without a till ringing under every sentence. The heritage gives us subject matter plus a duty: write down what a good shop assistant once gave away free, patiently, without hurrying anybody toward the exit.
03 How pieces get made
Pieces begin as questions that repeat, historically at counters and now in letters. Research leans on established fermentation practice, instrument instructions and common knowledge accumulated by British amateur brewers, weighed always against what a newcomer genuinely needs rather than what displays expertise loudly.
